This is a magnificent Baroque hall in the library of the Benedictine Monastery in Admont, Austria. Founded in 1074, it is described as “a work of art” and is the largest monastery library in the world.

Let’s see if this work of art can help us paint some porcelain…

Baroque.

Just saying the word in my mind makes me want to drop load. Say it with me:

Baroque.

Ora. Labora. Library. Monastery.

What is it about these words that gives me a sudden urge to go where even the emperor must go on foot?

The word monastery comes from the Greek “monasterion”, from the root “monos” = alone and the suffix “-terion” = place for doing something.

A place for doing something alone. Hmmm.

For more BM-inducing goodness, please visit the Monastery of Admont website.

“Ora et labora - pray and work” indeed.

Let’s all pray that this works.
